Hi all,
I am cuurently in the proocess of moving phone/bband from Sky to Talk/Talk.
I do have a few questions though that I would be grateful for an answer :
1. Will my existing Sky WIFI router be able to interface with Talk/Talk b/band ?
2. If the answer to the above is no, will I be able to just power up my Tak/Talk wifi router to coonect to b/band (as I did with Sky) without running the install CD from Talk/Talk ?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

1. doubt it - sky provided routers used to be link to specific accounts. may have changed with newer routers.
2. probably - I have never loaded any software from BB providers.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Just plug in the TT router, when they tell you it has been switched simples. For info the TT router normally comes with your userid/password already in.The ip address of their router is 192.168.1.1 , you don't need the CD in fact I would use it as a coaster.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . The Sky router is locked to Sky - it comes pre-programmed with your account details and this can't be changed (some possibilities exist with reflashing the older routers, not sure if possibly with the newer ones). Talk Talk provide a router anyway - just use that.richard9991 wrote: »Don't do it hate talk talk the customer service sucks
Worse than Sky? Blimey. Well, we're just coming out of the yearly 4-month congestion issue with Sky so the OP is just in time. It'll work until December '13/January '14, then any gaming/video/audio sites will be useless at peak times (5pm until 1am). They should have it fixed again by April '14. (Bitter, me? Possibly - but it's happened every year. First year I was stuck in contract, this year I'm waiting for FTTC to switch on then I'm off to a better provider)0 -
Very unlikely that you can move Sky LLU to TT LLU direct, unless TT are provisioning a new line.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Just to let everyone know, the Sky wifi router is working fine connecting to Talk/Talk b/band.
Really pleased as it now means that I have 2 spare wifi routers (Sky sent me another one by mistake and the other is the TalkTalk router) in case I get probs with the Sky one. I may sell one of the spares on ebay.:D

I am guessing that I have got a new line. I certainly have a new phone number !:):)Have a beer! :beer:0 -
You can usually tell if a router is locked to a provider as when you login to the router you cannot access the page with the connection set-up on.
Most of my village switched to TT as they were the only LLU at the exchange. Trouble was, TT boasted of speeds up to 24Mb/s but rarely achieved 1/2 that. Now all their customers have switched to Sky or BT.Never Knowingly Understood.
