i use windows mail that came with my new vista comp (2 month old)
over the last 2-3 days the windows mail has been hanging badly, for instance when i try to click on a message ,delete, or infact almost any action
i have run spybot, avg, adaware and ccleaner almost everyday from new(not sure if they have any effect over mail>?)
any ideas ? its close to useless for mail

When you say it's hanging... what is it doing (or not doing!), exactly?0

i mean it doesnt respond when i click to read or delete a message, or if i click to open a new message
nothing happens for several seconds, like theres a delay ..and when i was writing a mail today the box kept going grey/transparant then it would reappear0 -
It could be one of many things tbh. Has it ever worked properly? My gut reaction is that there's a few programmes draining the memory.
If you go to MSN and download Startup Inspector then that should tell you exactly what programmes are starting up without you knowing. Whatever programmes are surplus to requirements, then kill them off and see how you get on.
You could try starting in safe mode and seeing if it works properly. Safe mode means that the bare minimum of programmes open when you start up. If it works properly then your problem is memory use.0 -
yes it worked fine from day one...just playing up the last few days
ive not added any programmes sinse the trouble started0 -
Have you tried starting up in safe mode?
Is it only the mail programme that's on a go-slow?
Try opening up a few other programmes and noting what happens. If it's only the mail programme that's slow, it's doubtful you'll have a trojan.
The next thing I would do after this is to uninstall the mail programme, restart and then reinstall it.0
