Hi , I want to by a desk top system for my daughters 13th birthday and would like one that comes with a monitor as well . Money is a bit restricted at the moment but I am hoping I could get one for under £350 . It would be used for web browsing and school work . Also would need to install Serif , she uses it for her school work , on it . Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I could find a system please . Many thanks .

ETA : stupid question but are desktop systems wireless ? It would be up in her bedroom on the 2nd floor and router and everything is in the front room ??? Sorry I really don't know anything about them . Thanks .

Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

you not thought about a laptop then you can keep an eye on her (take it around the house) and not have her locked away in her room all the time talking to god knows who?
also with a lappy if required can be taken around with her if needed e.g. off to stay at grans etc so is far more mobile!

    look at https://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-3521/fs#overrides=
chip for first 2, 1.8 dual core 2mb cache
    http://ark.intel.com/products/71469/Intel-Pentium-Processor-2117U-2M-Cache-1_80-GHz
the second one in at £299 will do nicely, 500gb harddrive
the third one in at £349 is the same only larger harddrive 1tb
chip for last one 1.9 dual core 3mb cache
    http://ark.intel.com/products/72057/Intel-Core-i3-3227U-Processor-3M-Cache-1_90-GHz
the fourth one along at £359 is the same as 1tb hardrive but has a better i3 chip,
really all down to what you want to spend i would say the first one in the list covers it but have to ask yourself if 1tb drive for a 13 is needed not unless she is going to start getting into serious torrent downloading.

    all include shipping and vat.
    hope it helps

btw lappys above are wireless and can get separate cards to into desktop if not already wireless but that would require usually taken off the side and installing a card in the motherboard but only if is not wireless already!
also regards wireless there is good phone app to see which wireless channels are clogged up.
    https://play.google.com/store/search?q=wifi+analyzer
basically shows you who is on what channel networks. basically get channels from 1-13 most standard routers have there own preset channel like 6 for netgear so if everyone jumps on same channel it will drop you every now and then i used app above on phone and discover no one was using channel 13 now my wifi never ever drops out due to congestion and app is totally free to download and use.

Take a look at this DELL Inspiron 660 for £252.46 using a voucher code.

That will leave nearly £100 for the monitor. Something like this LG IPS234V-PN - 23" LED LCD HDMI IPS Monitor for £116.93 is a decent choice, especially for photographic work.

If you really can't stretch to it, this BenQ GL2450E 24" LED Monitor is good enough for £101.54.

Hi , I just thought about the desk top route as she has had 2 laptops within the last 3 years and both have been broken by her younger siblings where no matter how many times you tell her to put things up she won't ! the last laptop lasted 2 weeks ! She has a tablet and an iphone 4S for mobile surfing hence me thinking desk top system which can be locked away in her room . Many thanks for both of your replies
