Can I take back Toothpaste?

I bought a new toothpaste yesterday - there were two varieties of the flavour and I chose one called 'mint'. I used it for the first time last night and it was horrible, really foul flavour. This morning I used it and had the worst aftertaste lasting almost all morning, even after drinking more tea at work. I am not going to use it again, I'll just buy another one. But can I take back the toothpaste if it's opened? I've never had this before so I'd really appreciate some advice on my consumer rights on a situation like this!

You can return it if it is "faulty" (but I don't think that the taste of it counts as faulty), or if it is a supermarket brand version you may find that it has a "love it or your money back" guarantee. Either way, ring the store that you bought it from and check their policy.
If it is a premium brand (ie non-supermarket) you might be best off writing to the manufacturers who will often send you a voucher for the equivakent value off one of their other products.0 -

Thank you for this advice, I think I will try the latter. It really is disgusting but I'm loathe to spend another £4.15 on another one!0 -
I sent an email off to Warburtons about the £3+ I'd spent on a loaf of their gluten free bread that promised to be soft and tasty but turned out to be crumbly and disgusting. They sent me a letter of apology and some vouchers. Didn't ask for evidence or anything.
I'd send a fairly lighthearted email to the manufacturer saying you wouldn't normally complain about such a thing as toothpaste, but it's so disgusting you can't use it, and it did cost over £4. Pretty sure you'll get some vouchers or a freebie of some kind in the post.0 -
I bought some toilet paper that was rougher than I'd like. Can I take that back for a refund?
