Hi,
I have been trying to setup my first network between our 3 computors, as we have so much info/files split between the three.
I have 1 laptop with XP with cable connection to router (LAN).
1 laptop XP with wireless connection
and 1 desktop computor WIN98 with cable (LAN) connection
I have done the small business home office network setup on the 2 laptops, at the end of it it has the options to create a network setup disk using a floppy disk for the other computor to use as it is win98. But my laptops dont have a floppy disk drive???? so how can I get past this problem and setup my network to include the older but most important maini computor???
Sorry if this is answered somwhere else, I did have a quick look but didnt find anything to help.
Any help much appreciated

I would also avoid using the disk to configure things, you will learn alot more doing it the correct way anyway and will be able to fix problems easier.
each pc needs an IP address, it may be the case you are using DHCP from the router that will configure ip address details automatically if that is the case then the pc's should all be able to cnnect to the internet via the router.
all the PC's need an individual network name, PC1, PC2 and PC3 are good examples or the users names what ever they just need to be different, you need a work group name this needs to be the same on all the machines
both computer name and workgroup names are changed on the same screen.
In XP right click my computer and click properties, click the computer name tab then click the change button and enter what ever you have chosen to use.
in windows 98 it is done in network properties. you can get to it by right clicking network neighbourhood and then enter the name and workgroup name in the identification tab.
that is it, create your shares, install shared printers what ever you want to do.0
