Hi all..

I know that many people just gloss over charities... I used to be someone that did.
However it's not until you need their service that you realise how much of a difference they can make.

The back end off last year my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer of the Bowel. After a scan it was soon apparent that it has spread and was very advanced. His bowel was bad, one kidney was dead, his liver was 'riddled' and it even got up to his lung.

He was a fighting fit healthy man, and having just turned 65 hadn't even retired yet.
From that day that he found out things started going drastically down hill. Things went from bad to worse for him, and right now he is currently in a hospital bed, in my lounge and I am sat here next to him as I speak. In the last 48 hours we have had the vicar here, a HALO nurse, the local GP and Macmillan. All of which gave him a matter of hours to go.
The stubborn sod is still with us, but is in a coma struggling to breathe and on morphene intravenously.
He will never open his eyes again and is due to pass away literally any time now.
This has been one hell of an ordeal for not just him, but for the whole family.
However there has been one consistent thing throughout everything, and that has been Macmillan. In particular Mel, who has been looking after my dad.
They have not been just brilliantly amazing for him, but for the whole family.
During January myself, my partner my younger brother and my best friend decided that because Macmillan were being so great we should find a way of paying them back.
And so it was, the skydive was the one.
We intend on doing the free fall from 13,000 ft and it has been booked for a couple of months for the 6th of April at Hinton airfield in brackley at 8:30 am.
Our target was to hit £2000 and so far we have crossed £1800.
My dad wanted to come and see the jump but obviously that won't be happening.
We have less than £200 to raise now but we are really struggling to get there now.
That's where I'm calling upon you amazing people.
We have set up the justgiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/Richard-Wignall
Every penny obviously goes directly to the charity and so there's no worries of it being pilfered somewhere along the line like charity boxes in the street.
We also set up a text number - send 'RWIG47 £5' to '70070'
You can changea the £5 to anything you wish from £1 to £10.
But seriously every penny counts.
£2 can't even buy a pint of lager now, and can barely buy a liter of fuel.
All I'm asking is that a couple of you help out. It's not for me, or my father anymore. But it could help some poor family shortly. They are worth every penny and I thank you in advance.
I'm sure that almost all of you know somone or know of somone who has, or will get cancer. And if Macmillan help you. You'll understand.
Many thanks again
Regards Richard.

Hi Richard - just sent you a fiver via text. Good luck with the sky dive and I hope it all ends peacefully for your father.

My sister is a MacMillan nurse. She has worked in palliative care at various hospices for many years and I'm in awe of her skills. Hope you reach your target.
