Door Curtains

Options
Seen some door curtains on Argos website that are the right drop for my patio door windows.

Just wondering if it is ok to use door curtains up at windows or are they for covering doors only to keep draft out?

I wouldn't have thought they'd be wide enough to cover patio doors?

Also i suspect they are for thermal properties and not aesthetic so i'd be surprised if they'd be good for keeping sunlight out (if watching TV, etc).

Ah right I see. Just says they are cream and that I thought to myself that they'll do. :o

    You a single bloke then?
  • Lee, if you tell us the size of the window and colour you are after (cream?) perhaps we can suggest some for you?

I actually found the whole curtain buying thing quite tricky i.e. how wide each panel needed to be to cover the window width.

Size is 250cm width 210cm drop approx. Either cream or black. Was after the cheap colour match range in Argos but the drop is either way too short or too long. I know I can get them taken up but just trying to find some that fit first.

Yes, but I can do most things myself. The age of the house wife is long gone.

Hi Lee, so do you need to allow a bit from the top of the window to where the curtain rail is? As you will have worked out, that's a lot of curtain so will be more expensive and less choice as a result. We have a similar sized patio door and being very MSE I wanted thermally insulated curtains so I ended up paying just under £100 for ours that by coincidence...are cream.

Also, what kind of curtain rail/curtain fixing do you need?

I'm female and reasonably confident with DIY/house maintenance type issues but soft furnishings are a bit of a mystery to me!

    I'm not saying it's wrong.
  • As a starter: these in the 168cm wide by 228 drop are £85 but might be a bit long depending on how high curtain rail is above window. You do want the to touch the floor, it looks better than if there's a gap.

These? But I have some similar and mine are from a very stiff almost canvas like material so read the reviews and they may be too short depending on curtain rail height.

In case you're wondering about the price differential, the first pair are lined and made of a more expensive looking fabric. Both are good value for what they are.

Hi, There is already a curtain pole up, just need new curtains as the current ones are shabby and getting moldy on the back. I inherited them. Pole is the kind with the curtain rings on the pole which you attach curtain to with hooks.

Drop size is about right from the curtain pole but the width could do with being slightly more to cover the edges up as the width quoted is the size of the windows.

I'm going to get vertical blinds up too but not bothered about having them lined to keep sun out other than to keep the place warmer.
