Hi, can someone tell me please how long one has to be off JSA before one can make a new claim. I know that it is six months for someone over 25. I was wondering what it was for someone younger. A single person with no family.
Thanks

A single day. You could get a job starting Monday so therefore sign off on Sunday. Then you go and start the job on Monday find out you aren't up for it and mutually decide with the employer that you won't be returning the next day and you can sign on again on Tuesday.
I would always recommend you don't sign off until you have at least completed the first day and intend to stay a little longer.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

What are you trying to avoid by waiting to sign back on?0

JSA in general, it is irrelevant but do you actually mean JSA (CONTRIBUTION) Based...i.e. NON MEANS TESTED JSA???I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!0 -
Please can you give me some advice? I have worked at Morrisons for 7 years, if I walked out and took another job for a week and they wanted me to leave, could I claim JSA? Steve.0

Yes. Though depending on the reason they want you to leave you may be liable for a sanction0

Both employers would be asked about why you left so going to another employer for a week would not get you past the possibility of a sanction."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
It would in respect of the first employment0

why would you think you would be asked to leave after a week?
if is only a weeks trial, then surely you would be better staying with the secure (ish) employment you have at present?0 -
So how long wuld you have to be employed in the new Job?0
