Error With Wages

Hi all,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I opened a new bank account recently and gave my account details to my employer for my salary to be paid into.
Today is actually my payday, but whilst at work yesterday everyones wages hit their accounts at 4pm. Except mine.
Thinking this was strange, I contacted finance to check they had changed my details. They had but what they had done is added an extra number to my account number. Making 9 digits.
They advised me that they would have to wait until the payment bounced back to them before they could do a bank transfer to the correct account details.
My question is, how long will it take to 'bounce' back to them ? I am going away tomorrow so was counting using some of my wages.
I am off today so having to contact them via phone which isn't going to be fun. Just glad I noticed the error before the bank holiday weekend.
N.B. They bank with Halifax if that makes any difference.
Any help would be appreciated

I think it's 3 working days. Then the same again to re-send it. With the bank holiday on both Friday and Monday, it's going to take a while.:(Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -
It's their error, tell them you expect a one off payment to be made to you today by Faster Payments for the full amount that is due. The wait for the bounce back (which may or may not happen automatically) is not your problem.0

If they have made the mistake of adding the extra digit to what was given, then really would expect they to correct with a FPS payment to remedy this as matter of urgency.
This could vary my size of business in terms of what procedures \ audit rules are in place for someone to actually authorise such a payment to be made alongside any regular salary run. But I would stick to the 'thats not my problem'..
Failing that ask they make an interim part payment so that doesnt affect your upcoming holiday. and can be corrected when they make the further payment..0 -
Yep - your company made the mistake and should not expect you to be out of pocket, and should be doing their best to resolve it for you. This could be the form of an interest free loan. As above, this will probably go over the heads of the payroll people and might need signing off by a higher power.0
