Amazon tracking shows as delievered right after dispatch?

Hey Guys,
Can anyone help me? I placed an order earlier today for two books and the weirdest thing has just happened! I’ve just checked my account and it says my items have been dispatched with tomorrow as the estimation date; however, at the same time it also say’s the item has been delivered and signed for, with a name and location (Edinburgh). Anyone else had this happen, I’ve just contacted amazon via e-mail to find out what’s going on.
Oh and the date showing is for last year!

I've just entered in the tracking number provided by amazon into the carriers site, and the item which is supposed to arrive tomorrow was delivered last year...lol It's actually hilarious!0

It may be the tracking number has been recycled and last time it was used was last year, or they've made a mistake and put the wrong number altogether on your account0

Do you think my parcel will still arrive? They're textbooks and it would be great if they arrived tomorrow.0

They've just reused a number. I wouldn't worry about it. The books will arrive when they should doThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Cheers guys! I just don't want to waste a whole day waiting in if they're not going to show up.0

In a few hours when the parcel reaches the delivery office, the recycled number will update with details for your (new) parcel. It should also update fairly early tomorrow morning to say out for delivery. So you should be able to check and make sure it's on its way before staying in all day. This is everybody's fault but mine.0

I had the same problem yesterday, and this reusing of tracking numbers is really confusing for the customer.
I spoke to the delivery company, in my case, UPS, who advised what Amazon were doing, and had my correct delivery details for the delivery.
It all works out ok, but customers shouldn't have to waste time getting clarity.0 -

.
Why would amazon be generating tracking no's that these co's use. Surly they are simply picked up from the couriers systems.
More like the couriers are reusing the same numbers again..
Once again its let blame the other party :rotfl:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Why are you contacting UPS? You should be contacting the retailer.
As indicated Amazon don't make the number up, UPS give it to Amazon through an EDI or similar feed.
Its not unusual for couriers to reuse numbers, they usually leave around 90 days between reusing. Its the simple fact that there are not enough combinations available - one of the reasons why UPS introduced letters into a traditionally numeric tracking number - the same for Royal Mail RD/SD.0 -

Well given Amazon is the retailer it should be up to them to use a courier company that does not a) confuse the customer and b) drive up needless contacts to clarify issues that should be easily avoidable. Hardly like we are running out of combinations of numbers and letters!Thinking critically since 1996....0
