Exterior painting under 10 degrees?! Decorators help please!

Hi there,

Have had a kind offer to paint my rendered property this weekend however temperatures are forecast at 6 degrees for our area.

I'm aware some big brands such as dulux weather shield say not to paint under10 degrees. Are there any brands that would be suitable for lower temperatures to get the job done this weekend?

Any assistance much appreciated.

Thanks.

Johnstones Pliolite can be used down to -5 with ease. Take something strong before you check the price though. :D

i personally would not do any exterior painting this time of the year if the weather isn't suitable . even if it is 5deg , if the surface is damp then it isn't going to dry out unless there's a good breeze, if the surface is smooth you may get away with it , but if it's textured then it will take much longer to dry . if you want the job to last , then you'd be better off waiting til the weather improves .

    Hi both,

Thanks for comment. Looks like we will have to suck this one up then and just do when the weather gets better! Alas.

    Cheers.

We have the same problem - we stripped and painted and undercoat on the front door in October.... Then the weather turned and it's now been 6m! I'm itching to get it sorted before we need a new door!

I've pressure washed the house down, and ready to fungicide the walls...... What about a single 'mist coat'?!

You don't need to mist coat exterior rendering/pebbledash. In any event you need to let that lot dry out now after pressure washing it.
