Have you ever had one of those experiences, where you met someone for just a fleeting moment, but something about them had a really big impact on you? We were talking about this at work today and it seems this has happened to quite a few of my colleagues. I am one of those type of people who really needs to know someone for a while before they leave any kind of impression on me.

Met someone years ago and she instantly took my breath away. She radiates something, I can't put my finger on it. My life is better with her in it, and I hope she's always a part of it.0

Yes! Once or twice quite spine-tingling actually. :beer:Turn your car around.0 -
One night on holiday I got chatting to a guy at a bar. Just general small talk really but he asked me a question about my life which really got me thinking and gave me a massive kick up the !!! to change things.
I never saw him again and can't imagine I ever will but this random guy had such an impact on helping me move my life forward. Just shows the effect we can have on others without even realising.0 -

I was on holiday in Amsterdam with friends and enjoying a relaxing drink in one of the citys atmospheric brown cafes. Got chatting to one of the locals and it is a conversation that has stayed with me ever since. There was just something about what this person said to me that changed my outlook on life. Very much for the better. I doubt I will ever meet them again but I am glad we met that day
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
I have - I met a chap on a night out with friends at a time when I was in a terrible relationship and had zero self esteem. We got talking and things he said/asked really made me think about my life and my view of myself. There was never going to be a relationship between us for various reasons, but I still think I have him to thank for giving me the confidence to end the relationship I was in and to move on with my life in a much more positive way.
I did see him again over a year later (on another night out) and said thank you!Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Yes I met my husband this way. I bumped into him in a pub and I couldn't take my eyes off him. We engaged in conversation and it was like the whole world had disapeared. He arranged to come round to my flat the next morning - this sounds bad, because I had a boyfriend, but that relationship was on it's last legs and I'd convinced myself I would just be friends. He turned up, but by the time I'd dragged myself out of bed and got downstairs, he'd gone.
Anyhow, about a year passed and I'd finished with the boyfriend and he came into the pub, but we were both seeing other people. After about a year, both of these relationships ended and we finally got together - I truely believed we were destined to be together and now 16 years on we have two children and are happily married. I have never met anyone who's literally taken my breath away when I met them.MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0
