connecting vista pc to xbox360

i need to connect the above, so i have 2 cat-5 cables; one connected between modem/router to pc and the other between 360 and modem/router. if these are ok should i follow the steps on xbox forums to setup extender. one thing if i downloaded any hd clips, in which folder should i put them in to watch on 360 media extender.

secondly if i want to watch hd clips etc on my hd tv which option should i go for; dvi-hdmi or dvi to dvi or should i just plug in the other half of the dvi into the pc input of tele(would i get hd pic)

Hi,

(1) You set up the extender to use whatever folders you want as the source for streaming to the xbox.

(2) Not sure about this for streaming. I've got my xbox connected to my PC using the VGA cable. I had problems with the HD aspect of the original cable. Connecting through VGA works perfectly though.

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that the media extender doesn't support playing DivX / XVid movies through your XBox. Or rather, the xbox doesn't support it. Just FYI.

Yeah, that's true. You can google it though and there are a couple of workarounds...not tried it yet though.

I tried one of the workarounds, to stream directly from this program on the PC. It worked a bit, but my wireless connection was too slow to be sure how well it worked.

It's annoying because they should support all video formats.
