Next Directory lowering credit limit

NEXT have lowered my credit limit from £900 to £45 (effectively £0).
I rang their credit control department, apparently it will have 'NO EFFECT' on my credit and how my credit file is viewed.
Anyone shed any light on whether the woman on the phone actually knows what she is talking about?

Next do this alot, it is debatable over if it will have any impact, it all depends on other credit accounts you have, debt ratios etc as to the little or no impact.
It can be positive as your credit avaidable and balance is low due to the reduction. You may find next month or the month after it increases. They get regular CRA feeds and seem to move the limits accordingly.

They dropped mine from £3600 to £2500 then, after I'd bought a shirt, upped it back to £3600 where it has stayed.0

They have put mine at £0 for about the last 2 years, despite Barclaycard giving me £4,500 in the same timeframe.
However they still see fit to send the Directory to me and manage to add that £4.50 to my credit account............Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

I would buy things elsewhere. Although charity shop is my limit at the moment

When OH queried it, they said they check CRA data monthly. No problem, account now closed!:beer:0

Well, I will close my account and they can RAM it but it just annoys me the message they are putting on my Credit Report to potential lenders.
If I knew they were going to do this then I would off paid off the £40 I owe and got them to close it showing a £900 limit!!
Bad customer service, I won't shop with them again!I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

You can phone them and get them to cancel the deliveries of the directory. They will credit back the £4.50. I still buy from them but look at Next on line and then phone an order and pay straight away with my card.
Have you closed this account down because they should not be sending and charging you for directories if you have. This trail of credit if still open to you will affect long term your credit borrowing amount.
I refuse to pay their interest charges and I had an account for over 10 yrs with a credit limit of £3600, which used to go up and down occasionally.Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

I did exactly the same
think I was around £2K,always cleared on 1st statement
I moved house and they messed up my statements
since they got one returned to them, they dropped my credit to £0
said I could pay cash though.

I think I will pay it off but not actually close it, see if they reinstate the limit then shut it!I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
