Landlord demanding we need to have walls professionally painted

    If the house was refurbished before you moved in, there may be evidence (invoices, etc) that indicate the condition at the start of the tenancy. These could be used in place of an inventory.

    If you paint yourself, you need to make sure the whole wall matches. Slightly faded paint with bright white blotches where you covered the marks is not acceptable. If the paint doesn't match, be prepared to repaint the whole thing.

    If the condition at the end of the tenancy is acceptable, it doesn't matter who did it. It could be you, a professional or the Easter Bunny.

    This all hinges on the definition of "fair wear and tear". I suppose that to me the difference is whether any of the marks obviously arise from a single event.
    You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'
