structural report-Trial holes please help!

Hi, i am in the process of buying an end terraced property in a street that i used to live in. The Homebuyers came back saying that it had slight structural movement to the rear outrigger and recommended a structural engineers report which the vendor had done.
The report recommends that the cause of the subsidence to the outrigger should be determined by the excavation of trial holes and investigation of the local drainage. it also states that it is possible that the foundations in the outrigger may need underpinning but this will be difficult as it will almost certainly need to be done from inside and of the party wall which will require cooperation from the ajoining owner. an alternative may be to accept a continuing amount of small movement and construct a flexible joint between the house and outrigger that could accept some movemant without damage.
I want to proceed with the house and the bank are saying that providing we do the trial holes we can get a mortgage so what do i do now? my buyer is pushing to move in in a couple of weeks. How long do the trial holes take to do? who does them? is it the structural engineer? any help would be very much appreciated.

    I have trial holes dug by a SE to look at the foundations of a couple of houses. They have always been dug outside, in one case the SE bought a couple of guys with him who dug down and he examined and took pictures.

    On a different occasion the SE himself dig the holes and came with a corkscrew like device for getting deep down. These were not for underpinning so it may be different.

    I also remember we had trial holes dug inside in a basement area that was only used for storage and they took the floor up!

    I doubt it very much, I think what they are saying is that provided the trial holes don't show anything serious they may give you a mortgage.
    Let me tell you you ain't going to get trial holes dug a structural engineers report done and okayed by your lender, your mortgage sorted, exchanged and completed in two weeks.
    It is just about possible but it 'ain' very likely.
