Getting a car on hpi security watch or flagged as stolen.

Hi peeps, hoping for a bit of advice.
I bought a car while staying down south and left it with someone to look after until I could go back down to pick it up. I haven't been able to get in touch with the person that I left it with and therefore I'm trying to get the car put on security watch or flagged as stolen, in case the person tries to sell it.
I have called HPI but was told that I needed an account which turns out to be quite a costly affair. My next step was to call the police, but as the car wasn't actually physically stolen from my house or roadside, they won't get involved.
Is there any way I can get my car flagged on HPI?
Thanks in advance.

Go and get your car? Its not stolen. Its probably where you left it.
When you say you left it for them to look after, Do they have keys and the V5C documents?
Off road in a garage or on a driveway?
The police will say its not stolen either. You left it with them so go and get it back.
Scrap yards dont HPI cars. And many buyers wont either. So rather pointless.
Or pay the fee and get an account.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It isn't where I left it. The guy has a warehouse down there, and that's where he said he'd put it while I was away. He has the keys, I have the V5.
I know that a buyer may not HPI it, but they would have to apply for a new log book. Or he might apply for a new log book. I just want to make sure that they can't.0 -
No way I can get this car flagged up on HPI without basically lying to the law by saying it was stolen off my drive? (which I clearly would rather avoid)0

Regardless of why you gave him your keys or if its been stolen and you don't know where it is you should a) look for it and b) if you cant find it phone the police and report your friend for stealing it?
Do you have a receipt for the car you bought?0 -
Even if you report it as stolen, the police and insurance company will ask you where the keys are... and if you are unable to produce them, then it could get messy.0

Where they keys are is irrelevant to whether it's been stolen or TWOC'd.
I will give the keys to my car to a garage when it's in for repair, but I saw it in the Supermarket car park when it was supposed to be getting repaired, I'd be calling the police and reporting a TWOC.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
