Hi all,

Am new here, but wanted to let as many people know about the company SGE Loans and their bully tactics to try and get you to take one of their loans out.

I applied on their website for a loan three days ago and since then have had no less than 44 phone calls (I have kept a log!) hassling me into signing up for one of their loans subject to a broker fee.

I have told them repeatedly to remove my details from their calling list, telling them I am not interested.
Their response when you tell them to stop calling is 'Why apply for a product online, then not expect us to call you?' and if you tell them you're not interested you will get a sarcastic comment such as 'oh well, please feel free again to type your details into a website that you're not interested in'.

There are pages and pages of information about this company and their tactics on many websites, horror stories of people being taken for £79.00 broker fees for a loan product to not materialise at the end, and long waits for refunds

are people not allowed to change their mind without being hassled by telephone calls? OP told the company they no longer wanted the product, SGE should have halted the calls not continued to call, let alone make sarcastic comments etc.
  • I have learnt the hard way NEVER to put my real telephone number on anything on the internet - insurance quote, membership enquiry, etc, etc.

Do you have any idea how a broker works?

The OP has submitted his information including phone number to SGE in order that they spin this information out to as many lenders as they deem necessary in order to satisfy the OP's request for a loan.

Worse case is that all 44 phone calls the OP has received have been from different companies, this is what the OP reqested should happen....but it gets worse....

Just to back this up - I recently signed up with a Broker site using fake details and a fresh email address.

That email address has received about 50 emails from various loan companies either aproving my loan or asking me to ring them as they can't contact me on the (fake) phone number I gave them.

Never really thought how these brokers work as haven't ever used them but the impression I got from OP was that SGE were the ones doing the calls, not different companies?

No, SGE are not money lenders. They do nothing more than you or I can do with the use of Google.

They simply have an auotomated system to throw the applicants details around to save the chore of typing. They also act as referrers so if a loan is taken, they get even more cash as they bought the two parties together (a bit like Quidco).
  • all il say is avoid this company i left because it was immoral they have ways of saying things that back them selves like the 79.99 fee well that isnt a brokers fee because sge dont charge a brokers. its for a premium service that is seperate just avoid em i had mothers who just wanted to feed there kids wanting 100 pound but getting tricked into the premium service 80 pound.
  • i made the mistake of going on there website put in my details as requested then got to the page were it said there was a £79.99 charge , i declined and left the site and thougth nothin more of it , then 3 days later £79.99 went from my account had no idea were it went ,foned my bank they told me it was SGE loans ,so i foned SGE loans told them i had declined there services on the website ,was told write a letter to ask for a refund ,but it could take up to 28 days so i writ the letter and waited 28 days later no refund i foned them again ,took me 45 mins to get to speak to sumone £11 36 on my fone bill . said he was doin me a favor by puting in a level 3 complaint (woop wee) but it wud take 21 days after i recieved the leaflet through the post that said excactly wot he told me on the fone ,so 21 days later still no refund foned again .oh bad news the ceo is on holidays for 3 wks he is the only person that can sign the refund cheque wot a load of rip of low lifes. just read on another forum they also charge a£9.95 admin charge before they give u a refund scammers avoid at all cost
