Euro Car Parks - worth appealing?

Hi All,
I've just revisited here after a while and found that the advice has changed a bit from the 'ignore ignore' it used to be - I hope nobody will mind if I ask for advice on a specific situation?
I displayed a ticket in Sainsbury's two weeks ago, but unfortunately an out-of-date one was also in the windscreen - the guy obviously saw this and not the new one, and ticketed me. The ticket was very small and tucked under the bottom of the wipers, so I didn't even notice it until I got home, so Sainsbury's won't help as they say you must speak to them on the day you get it.
I'd assumed that I didn't need to do anything, but it sounds as though things have changed - should I appeal, pay up, ignore....?
I'd really appreciate any advice!
Thank you.

Nothing significant has changed - the tickets are just as useless as before.
Ignoring is your best option if you simply want an easy life but you can do an "appeal" and take it to POPLA, then ignore that if it goes against you. This costs the PPC some money but nothing to you.0 -
I don't really want to appeal - I think it's plainly nonsensical, but I suspect they would say the valid ticket should have been the only one displayed.
Town and City did something similar to my partner a year ago - same car unfortunately - and we went through Scary Letters, but all the POPLA stuff is something of a revelation to me!0 -
POPLA is their Kangaroo court.
IGNORING is Ours.
Look at the statistics and see which works best.Be happy...;)0 -

So it doesn't make a difference that it's post-October 2012?0

Just keep the valid ticket in case for a bit.
On the POPLA thing, I am willing to bet the price of the original ticket that the car park signs say nothing about displaying more than 1 ticket and that you would win hands down!
But respect your decision to ignore.0 -
Tom, that's awesome! Assuming the guy isn't now languishing in the debtor's prison, of course....!0

Sorry about the rant but this is what I posted when we got fed up with the same panic every day about the 'new law':
