3k seems a bit steep to be moving into a rented place anyway? How much are local rents in your area?
Not necessarily. I live in the north of England in a town that is very expensive. We moved house recently and it's cost us a small fortune. Just over £1000 for deposit, first months rent plus fee's. Think we paid out just over £2k. Add to this any furniture the OP needs to but and I don't think £3k is a wild amount to need.0 -
If you're genuinely worried about who to trust websites like moneysupermarket, compare the market etc will help find loans that are from 'reputable' lenders.0

Do you actually still have bad credit or you think so from past experience? If your bad history is over 6 years old it should be statute barred and not showing to lenders so you should not have bad credit?
If you are not sure you should check your Experian and Equifax to find out whether it is true or not - just £2 statutory reports, not any value added rubbish. It could be that your credit file has issues like lack of credit history showing or wrong personal information, which would cause a decline with the prime lenders, or it could just be that Halifax did not like the fact you are newly self employed and as far as they can confirm your income could be completely fictional. If this is the case you probably just need to find a slightly less prime lender (e.g. Sygma bank?) who might consider your application more fairly.
If you do have bad credit or CRA issues like no history or electoral roll problems, no lending institution will lend 3 grand to you. The way it works with 'bad credit lenders' is you get a measly sum (that is, £200-500) at massive interest, then in time, with trust, you get slightly more credit at the same massive interest until you get out of the subprime bracket and you can get normal credit.
Your best bet is to borrow from family or friends. If you don't have family or friends who will lend you the money then you have to wait until you save the money before you can move out.0 -
Why don't you put aside say £300 a week, and within 3 months you won't need a loan?0

Does your dad have a mortgage with a borrow back facility and would he trust you to pay him back if he obtained the funds on your behalf?Life is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0
