hi guys.I some how have downloaded a program , "python 2.7", which I think was part of a large , optional windows update, which I did a bout a month ago, because, secunia psi was saying, update ready, and that was the only one left, to get 100%, which it did..
psi, keeps telling me, daily, it,s patched python, ?
Can someone tell me what python does, and is it part of windows ?
As long as it aint harmful, it,s ok, just never come across it before.
It,s only because secunia psi keeps patching it, it,s come to my notice.

It's not part of Windows. It's a scripting language and the install is all the libraries needed to run scripts. It's probably on your machine because something you've installed in the past needs/needed it. It wouldn't have come from a Windows update.0

Thanks mr fishbulb, I read that on google, but it was double dutch to me.I probably did download it with something, but cannot think what, don,t usually download much.mr_fishbulb wrote: »It's not part of Windows. one thing I did do, twice, and resulted in me having to go back to restore point, that,s update Avast, from pop up, and both times, free version, it showed in security centre as turned off, and couldn,t turn on.
Both times I uninstalled it, and did it fresh from FileHippo.ok then.
Could have come with that, otherwise, no idea.
Is it ok to leave on? aint in add/remove,it just shows in secunia psi,as up to date, patched.? even a search doesn,t pull it up;:beer:0 -

Cheers bluesnake, trouble is , I don,t really want it. Aint got a clue where I got it from, and don,t know how to remove it.It isn,t in add/remove, and don,t know if it,s part of another bigger program, but doubt it.Cannot use it, even if wanted to, cannot locate it?
Every day I boot up, secunia, removes it, and puts it back on,patched, auto. says secure.
It looks really for Open source users, not Windows.
Any ideas how to get it off.?0 -
If you're really sure nothing you have uses it, you will probably find it's installed in the default location C:\Python27\ You should be able to just delete that folder without causing issues.
Personally I'd remove Secunia PSI instead since Python does something useful :rotfl:
30 seconds on Google shows lots of people reporting the same issue. The problem lies (AFAICS) in Secunia, not in Python0 -
