USB Device Not Recognised

I am having problems connecting my printer and digital camera via USB.
On about 2 of every 4 attempts it comes up with error "USB Device Not Recognised". I have to switch off my laptop and when I switch it back on the device works ok.
I have installed the software ok, I am on XP, any ideas how to fix this

Hitch have you tried un-installing the drivers for the devices? When you have un-installed it would be prudent to do a reboot. Then try your devices again, what system you running, XP, Vista?

I would reccomend doing a system restore back to the date before you first installed the software (make sure you won't lose anything important). Then reboot, then reinstall one piece of software, reboot again, and reinstall the second. Periodic rebooting between seperate installations is the best way to go. Also obviously ensure you have the correct drivers (check your service pack etc..)
