needing insurance to buy 2nd car tomorrow

City Insurance Group seems to be the best one to have a policy for a 2nd car. They came out best in the comparisons and when doing a quote on their site it asks if you have NCD that applies to another vehicle and how much.
I've gone through all the comparison sites etc. now as well as Aviva and Direct Line and the quotes range from £430 to well over a grand.
Does anyone know of any other insurers that are good for a 2nd car?
My problem with my first car is the modificaitons mean it can't be covered by most multicar policies...0 -

Main driver on 2 cars? fronting. Ive have 4 cars at the same time sometimes. But no named drivers though..
If the OP is genuinely the main driver on 2 policies then that's what should be declared and insured. But it would be worth considering how each driver uses the car and how that could be proved. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.

Many thanks all, I just found another similar thread on here where someone was able to get a reduction on their 2nd quote the equivalent of that on their 1st policy with their NCD. Sounds like it might be possible to get a NCD reduction on a 2nd policy possibly? Although I assume it's just a reduction and that's it as the NCD would continue on the 1st policy?0

Hi! I would like to add that sometimes it might come down to your state of residence. Take note that all states require liability of some sort. However, some states allow various companies to file different forms to insure different risks. For example, my friend in Nevada has about a dozen cars which he and his wife are the only drivers. In Nevada, they have a policy that insures the driver no matter what he is driving and whether it be owned or non-owned.0

Probably not of much help if the OP is not American though...0 -

but i dont think OP lives in the USA, this is a brit mainly forum, but all welcome.
OP, ask to speak to a senior supervisor with your current insurer perhaps they could permit a new policy for the 2nd car taking into account your loyalty, accident/conviction free record and honesty of declarations they may have to ask their underwriters but you may get somewhere.0 -

You used to be able to get that sort of cover over here. Makes sense seeing as you can only drive one at once but no UK insurer seems to offer them anymore outside of trade cover.0
