I am asking this on behalf on my 91 year old Aunt who I help she is with British Gas on Dual Fuel and pays her bills quarterly by cash at Pay Point and wants to remain that way.
She has had her bills fixed and this has now come to an end they have sent her a letter offering her their Clear and Simple tariff which 26 per day standing charge & 4.592 PER kwh the electricity is 17. standing charge and 13.294.
The other alternative is to fix the price at 6.4% above their basic rate for one year.
The other is to fix the price at 9.4% above their basic rate for two years.
They told me that the gas price has risen 20% in the last two years.
Her fuel usage is just below average she is very very careful but her boiler is over 25 years old so not very economical.
Could anyone give me any advice which is the best tariff for her as I am struggling with what to advise her.
Thanks in advance.

The cheapest tariff can be found via a comp site using her annual kWh figures. However most of the cheapest tariffs are the online discount ones, which generally require monthly DD payment. So if she really wants to save money, she is screening out many of the best deals by insisting on quarterly billing. Could you not offer to run her account online for her using DD and online billing?
Unit costs do not really tell you anything, as there are too many other variables. What matters is the total annual cost.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I see she definitely won't go for Direct Debit we are backwards and forwards to the pay point and post office to pay everything thanks anyway0
