Dla renewal question

a friends dla claim ends feb 08 and they am just wondering whats the process with applying for it again...is it the same form as when you first put an application in or is it a different form...do they contact your gp again stuff like that...

    Yes it is the same form for a renewal of DLA and they may write to your friends Doctor again or send an EMP to visit them or both or neither, it depends on each case.

    you have to reapply apparently, DWP should send you a renewal pack before your claim ends

    They usually send the renewal forms (which are exactly the same as the original) about 6 months before your claim ends. They can contact your GP which they probably will do, they may make arrangements for a doctor to come out to see you, it all depends.

    When you do fill in the forms make sure you keep a copy as when the renewal comes it is very useful.

    we did one renewal - we hadn't kept the a copy of the first ones i'd sent. so i rang and asked them to send me a copy, which they did.

    we then only had to copy all the previous info and add to it as necessary.

    since then we have not had another renewal, because of his condition he have been given his dla 'for life' unless anything changes.

    I photo copied the original form and when it came to renewal time, as nothing had changed, I just wrote out the exact same words again.
    This saves a lot of time and hassle.
