My car is due it's first MOT in a few months.
Can I have it done a month early like a normal due date?
I want to have the advantage of a bit of time to correct any points.

Plenty of cars fail if they haven't been looked after.

I agree that there is no good reason why a well looked after 3 year old car should fail its first MOT, but I'm sure it does happen now and again.

As many cars sold in the UK now have a minimum of a 3 year manufacturers warranty, getting the first MOT done a little bit early may help to ensure that a failure could be rectified with the cost covered by the manufacturer.

Yeah you can have it MOT'd early, no longer than a month or you will lose a months MOT. Get it within the month its due and you will get it from the expiry date, do it before then and it will go from the month before.

He means that if you had it done a month and a couple of days early, your new certificate would run for 12 months only, effectively wasting that last month of the three year period.
