France / Le Shuttle

Looking at going by Le Shuttle (not a keen flyer)to a mobile home/cottage in France towards end of August. Was wondering if there are any sites/locations that ideally are not too far to drive to that are good for teenagers? Is it normally cheaper to book accomadation and le shuttle direct? Which holiday company would you normally book through? Any advice or recommendation would be great. With Le Shuttle is it cheaper the earlier you book?

To be honest, if you're looking to go over the channel and not much further why not stay in the UK, the West Country is lovely for instance. Just an idea and not a criticism.

What about the awful weather and cost of everything in the uk though, particularly in August when Prices are hiked up hugely?
It would be france all the way for me, especially in August.

Hi, i would book the shuttle as soon as possible, and then look for accommodation.
Do you collect Tesco clubcard points? You can pay for your crossing using these.
We are going to le croix du vieux pont which is about 2.5-3 hours drive from Calais.
From what i've read and heard, it seems to be very teenager friendly.
It's also a very popular site for staying on when visiting Disney.

The Shuttle is great, and yes you can get cheaper fares if you book earlier, or are a regular customer.
France is great - I am biased of course, having been there every year since 1992, and I think that there is something for everyone.
I don't know what to advise for teenagers though, as they are difficult to please - do they like sports, activities, art, scenery, history, shopping, amusements?

The weather in Southern England doesn't differ too greatly from that of Northern France.

And the Pound is tanking against the Euro at an alarming rate so any trip there would run close an English holiday for price.

You can find great deals staying behind pubs and such like here instead of staying on some anonymous French caravan park. Just my two penneth.

Hi, yes horses for courses i guess. Even taking all those things in to account, i would still much rather be in France!
For me, i am happy to do weekends or short breaks in the Uk, but i would never take my main holiday here.
I like to feel i'm on holiday, with different food, language and culture.
For me that's what makes a holiday.
