Debt and Emigrating

I'm currently on an IVA but am behind with my payments by £600. I have the money to pay and to get back on track but I have just been offered an opportunity to emigrate to NZ. It would be a fresh start for me as the job opportunities would be a lot better for me out there. I would be staying with friends until I find a job if I was to do it however with my current debt crisis, I will struggle to save. The £600 that I owe could go towards my flights and it was suggested to me that I declare bankruptcy as I have no assets. Would this be a good idea? If not then what would be the best thing to do? Would this affect my visa application?

Friend of mine went BR one month, got discharged the next and moved to UAE a month later.
You will need to keep paying for another 3 years if you go BR. How long have you left on your IVA?
If your emigrating without a job offer then I would be trying to save a few thousand prior to you leaving...maybe now isn't the best time for you.
As for visa application, I have no idea how NZ works, but if you have zero savings and no job offer before you go then I wouldn't think a visa would be granted, unless you have family out there.
Good luck tho !"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0
