How do I change number of rings on Talk Talk landline phone

'I am a Talk Talk customer and would like to change the number of times the phone rings before it diverts to voicemail but for some reason TT don't seem to be able to tell me how to do this. They think it may be a technical problem with my phoneline.

If anybody else has managed to do this, please share the secret with me. I know I can set up an answer phone to pick up after as few or many rings as I choose but is this possible with voicemail from telephone providers.

Amazing what you can find with google.

Yes, you can choose to set the time at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 seconds

To change the time follow these steps:

    Dial **61*121*11* from the handset
Next they will need to enter the length of time they require. For example select 5 for 5 Seconds
    Press #
    Press the dial button
A message will be displayed on screen to confirm the length of time that has been set
Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j

And it shows just how crap TalkTalk really are!

They must be trying for the wooden spoon award for the fourth consecutive year running.

Sorry I should have said it was my landline. This instruction only applies to TT mobiles. I thought I had hit gold last night when I found the above instruction but when I entered the code I just got a message saying 'there is a fault'. When I checked to see what I was doing wrong I realised that it was for mobiles only.

Thank you for trying to help, very much appreciated.

Cheap crap though! £20.75 per month for broadband, phone including all calls up to an hour within the UK and most European countries and up to two hours to other TT customers.

    How much are you paying?

    Very good!

I find their BB very reliable and my phone line has worked perfectly since I joined them. My beef with them was a problem with billing but it was sorted out eventually.

The reason I posted the question on this Forum is because a lot of ex BT customers (me included) moved to TT to save money and I thought I would find a few here who had resolved this problem.

As far as I can tell you have two options:
    • Disable voicemail and get a phone with said feature built-in
    • Live with it.

    hi Figgerty,

As per the link to the TalkTalk Members Forum provided by TangleFoot this cannot be changed. If you remove the voicemail service it will extend the ring time before it rings out on the network.

Thanks Mark for your interest. Have Talk Talk any plans to change this? I think landline customers should have the same ability to change number of rings as mobile customers.
