To me, its a revenue raising exercise, whichever way I look at it. They know that alot of folk will feel obliged to sign up, and thier script appears to lean on that..... I may be a tad sceptical, but I reckon' they had thier plans in place from the start.

Even if I'm wrong, they don't have any legal right to collect.... do they? No bank details were given?

As Cook County said above, you can just ignore thier kind offer!

My first free issue arrived a couple of days back, I haven't had the letter yet but if it says pay by 16 June that means they'll keep sending me more free copies until then.

I have had these same offers at least 2 or 3 times in the past (so I knew it was a kosher offer before I posted it). Sometimes I have sent the invoice back marked "cancel"; other times I have just torn it up. In either case the free papers arrived for 4 weeks as promised and then stopped and I heard no more than a couple of letters from the publishers.
