Don't like the bit where it asks for a billing address.
Seems more like a trial subscription than a freebie to me
Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive

It is indeed a "trial subscription" but not one which asks for direct debit instructions, so all they will do is invite you to subscribe at the end of the 4 weeks, after which you can ignore their kind invitation.
This is what they say: "Please sign me up for a free 4-week trial subscription to the International Herald Tribune. I understand that I have the option to continue my subscription after this trial at a special low rate."
Sounds like a freebie to me, I'm certainly not going to pay them a penny!0 -
The International Herald Tribune is an excellent read. When I was Greece I used to buy it every day. Admittedly that was because it was cheaper than the U.K. or Irish papers, but still a great newspaper.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

Signed up to this "free" offer and ended up with an invoice for £295 today, which I should pay for a 1-year subscription!!!! My first (not free) issue should have arrived today according to the letter but no sign of it. Avoid!!!0
-
Why did they send you an invoice, for papers already or not yet delivered?
I got my first issue this morning along with a for to fill out if I wish to subscribe for £295 per year. It says I only need to pay that if I want to continue after my trial.0 -
It even say that if you don't want you have to mark cancel on the invoice and send back...i will do in some weeks actually0

"Dear Subscriber,
Thank you for taking out a subscription to The Word's Daily Newspaper. Your subscription should have started on May 24...
In order for your subscription to continue without interruption, we need to receive your payment before June 16, 2007. Please refer the enclosed invoice for the various payment options available"
No mention of free trial or cancelation.
I tried to phone, but their office was closed already; will try again tomorrow.
Does it come by the normal post or with special delivery ? (I don't live in London/Oxford area)0
