And are completely crushed by the establishment.

How dare they try and not pay thousands of pounds year to some dreadful spiv with a buy to let mortgage or some ghastly bank run by David Cameron's mates?
How dare they not spend two thirds of their life slaving in a call centre just to make ends meet?
Never mind that 1% of the population of this egalitarian country owns 70% of the land.

God forbid any of the privileged elite should have to suffer, better keep crushing the dreams of the young.

The single story building, fashioned with a reciprocal green roof and lime plastered straw bale walls cost £15,000 to construct and was completed just in time for the couple's first child allowing them to move out of the damp caravan where they had lived for the previous four years.
They claim it was the only way they could afford to own their own home. Yet despite earning plaudits from environmental architects across the world the young family are now fighting an order to demolish their dream home because it is claimed it is harmful to the rural character of the locality.

after going ahead with the build without first seeking planning permission.
A pair of idiots built a property that clearly required planning permission and didn't bother applying for it. I have, literally, no sympathy.
The article doesn't once mention that the 'character' of the building is an issue so this entire thread is a fiction designed to defend the actions of a couple that deserve no defending.Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Yes, you would say that, because you can imagine no other world other than the one you live in.
A world where the majority have nothing and the minority have nearly everything.
A world where the poor have their pockets picked by the rich.
A world where faceless grey bureaucrats crush harmless little houses with bulldozers and rubber stamp grim rabbit hutch developments for the working poor to spend their misery sodden lives in.
A world where you, my friend, are part of the problem.0 -
Or as it appears in the case or this couple, a world where mummy and daddy own a load of nice rural land and let their son build a shack on it.0

It is not about haves and have nots (money-wise) it is about the rules of building a property, which requires planning permission.
I couldn't just extend my house (if I had the money); I would have to go through the correct procedures first.
That said, I do hope they get to keep it.0 -

You mean a world where the highest earners in this country PAY MORE TAX IN ONE YEAR than the average person pays in their entire lifetime?ruggedtoast wrote: »A world where faceless grey bureaucrats crush harmless little houses with bulldozers and rubber stamp grim rabbit hutch developments for the working poor to spend their misery sodden lives in.
So we should all be able to build whatever we want where ever we want and totally ignore the laws of the land?Every generation blames the one before...
