What a good question and VERY subjective!!!!
I would go up the Rock. You get excellent views of New York, especially the Empire States Building. We went up a few years ago and I still have a photo of me with the Empire States and New York skyline behind me.0 -
that sounds amazing
did you do both ESB and TOTR??
ive heard they are both equally as good but from TOTR you can see the ESB and central park?0 -

I would have said ESB, but I can see that the Rock may be a better bet. I also found the UN Building very interesting.0

Trying to think slightly out of the box, I'd go for attending a sports event. Check out Madison Square Garden for basketball or ice hockey, or one of the two baseball teams. Great way to meet real Americans who love their sports and I've found are often at their friendliest. I still keep in touch and go to visit a family I sat next to on my first visit to a baseball game in Chicago when I said to them "this is my first ever baseball game, can you tell me the rules?". And so began a great friendship.0

Another vote for going up the Empire State Building, but a close second is to walk over Brooklyn Bridge from Brooklyn Heights, toward Manhattan - the views are stunning.0
