gas boiler fitting issues

Options
Hi All i am after some advice please Not sure if this is the correct place or not for it. Or even if i am entitled to anything or not.

we had a new boiler fitted as part of a go warm grant and its really efficient.
However the firm we had fit the boiler have been terrible.

Firstly on the day they left several defects which thanks to a manager have now been rectified. this included damage to a wall, Several holes in living room and dining room ceilings, uncased gas pipes and burns in the carpet.

However this isnt the worst of it. The engineers when working near to the meter soldering pipes caused a gas leak. Instead of doing the job propertly they soldered with the meter in place rather than taking it out. worse still they never even covered this with a Soldering mat. The flux they used dripped onto the Regulator and has caused acid errosion on regulator. This over the last 3-4 weeks had caused 4-5 small holes which have leaked. With the gas meter being in the front room we noticed this yetserday and a gas emergency engineer replaced the regulator and commented on the lazy and incompatent workmanship. since the boiler exchange we have all been unwell my wife and son with headaches, me and my daughter with our chests. THe meter is located in our living room where we spent most of the time.

I have one of the firms top managers coming to see me today to try and resolve the issue. what are my rights what am i entitled too. I also want to express my disgust at the work carried out by the engineers and that they are putting peoples lives at risk working in this way.

Thanks

Report it to Gas Safe, they will do an inspection of the boiler installation.

Given the symptoms you describe turn all gas appliances off completely now, not later as it could be too late , ventilate the property (yes I know it is cold) and dial 0800 111 999 who will come and make you safe, I would also advise you all visit your drs or a&e to be tested for carbon monoxide

This is a common issue with people who seem to be somewhat lacking in standards of professionalism.

First thing is that to undertake hot work whilst the meter is still connected is bad practice/against what they will have been trained and assessed to do and is courting danger.

The inlet from the service to the regulator will be via a silver coloured stainless steel flex,

It is imperative that this is not exposed to acidic soldering fluxes as within weeks,it will perforate and leak gas.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
