No Space - any ideas on best/cheapest way to store recycling outside?

I can imagine us buying lots of different containers and ending up wasting money. Dh wants us to keep it in the kitchen, but we have no space so I think that putting it outside the kitchen door is bestest. But we need something to keep it in that's waterproof that won't look too hideous outside or take up too much space, and we can ideally shove in the car to take to the recycling place.

Has anyone found any miraculous solution to this? We're trying to do up our house to sell and we have SO MUCH stuff, and two babies with the associated paraphenalia (though less than most babies, we've held back on that side of things), and no money!! I'm a bit lost as to what to do with everything, lol! My grandma (who has dementia) thought we'd taken her to the shops when she came to our house, seriously! It's not saleable stuff, just stuff we need for the kids and for dh's new business and the lovely breadmaker and slow cooker, etc.. Trying to get organised and get some space back is giving me jip!

I'll probably be back on begging for more storage ideas over the next few days, you lot are fab for ideas (which is great as I can't think straight at the mo through lack of sleep, kids, eh?!!), I really appreciate any help anyone might be able to offer. Thanks in advance!

Lucy

We get a green lidded box from our council but doesn't always fit everything in, lidded bins can come in handy not so much the swing bin types but the ones with a full lid, maybe ask on freecycle if anyone is throwing one out ? I put the whole bin in the boot (have a big car)
One day I might be more organised...........

We only got the one standard council issue black unlidded box for glass & bottles so bought some clear stackable boxes with lids from Ikea. They do them in all sort of sizes very sturdy where the lids fip up so you don't have to keep re-stacking when putting something in. IYKWIM.

Hi! Thanks for your replies. I've had a quick look at the Ikea ones, that's just the type of thing I was thinking of! They were a little more expensive than I thought - the idea has progressed from boxes, to Keter outdoor storage boxes, to a small garden shed outside the kitchen door....we have a toddler bike/pushchairs we would be better off putting outside and so a shed seems a good option as you can get them quite cheaply. Knowing us, we''ll fill it so full we'll have no room for recycling, lol! Thanks for your inspiration everyone! Anyone know where we can get the cheapest garden shed...????????????

    Lmao

I was just saying to my mothe rin law that im ashamed to throw out our 2 soimetimes 3 bin bags every wek - there is on ly me, bf, 3 year old and dog and we throw away loads so think we should recycle but our house in tiny too adn we have no space to put things inside the house - our kitchen well you can barely turn round let alone swing anything in it so i think somethign outside would be a good idea for us too. Plus we are in a ground floor flat so we have barely any space but i have a small area in the corner of the garden whcih i could possibly get away with putting seperate small bins on will just have to convince bf to do it and not just bin every random thing.
    Time to find me again
