Vanquis Complaint

I'll give you some background to go on...

They called me to make a payment, I spoke to a woman on the phone about making the full payment on a certain date and set up a direct debit to do it. However before agreeing I asked about credit limit increases and when I was likely to get one, she then states that if I make this payment, they'd increase my limit next month... I didn't think this was the case but I made her repeat it and then agreed to set up the direct debit (which I would have done anyway)

I called next month to then ask about the credit increase when someone explained that's not how it worked, I gave them the name of the agent I spoke to last time and told them I knew the call was recorded so asked them to check it for me.

A manager then called me to explain he'd listened to the call and I was right, she did say that however she said it as an incentive for me to pay off the full amount... I expressed my anger at being told a blatant lie... I then get a letter to say they have 56 days to answer my complaint.

That 56days is over this week, so I'm waiting to hear from them I'm just looking to see what any of you would advise? Or what I should expect because I'm very new to this, it's not right is it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    They called you to make a payment? Were you in arrears? Sounds like the person you spoke to was just trying to keep you sweet.

    What are you hoping for here?

    They've done you a favour anyway. Carry a balance on a Vanquis card is very unwise.

    After 8 weeks you have the right to take the complaint ot FOS. In fact if they do not reply in that time they are going to get fined.

    To be honest even if they reply and offer some ££. Refuse let it go to FOS (costs them £750) and they will end up with a serious slap.
    Can't stand companies like this that lie, as it gives the rest of us a bad name.

    Seriously...to make such a hassle...

    What was the damage for the OP anyway? He is just being stubborn and bored, that's what I think. Happens to me at work as well, people like that make such an annoying customers...

    Sounds like you called up specifically to try and catch them out so you would in turn have something to complain about.

    They don't have to give you an increase and the agent clearly made and ERROR, a blatant lie is an exaggeration to say the least.

    Probably an inexperienced agent who did not know the processes and did you a favor by forcing you to pay.

    Why would any financial institution especially Vanquis, who specialise in lending to people with poor credit history want to lend to someone already in problems? Its so 90's.

    £50 max at fos , and it wouldnt get to £750
    Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    my friend got her card last July and she started with £500
    she paid her card in full for 4 months then they incrested
    it to £1000 she received a letter yesterday that she has an increase
    of £1750 but she has always paid the full amount :D
    I think they watch your account and if you pay in full means
    that you can manage your money so they increase it :D

    If it goes to FOS it will cost Vanquis £750. Staandad fee when a complaint goes to them. Bank pays.....

    So not sure where your £50 is from.
