i know i sound stupid but i have lost the tool bar at the bottom of the page

Which toolbar have you lost?
If you're just missing the quick launch (where all your icons are) just right click the main taskbar, hover over 'toolbars' and select 'quick launch'
If you mean the whole bottom taskbar, first try Ainsley's suggestion in the event you have accidentally accessed full screen mode. If that fails to bring your taskbar back, hover your mouse at the bottom of your screen (where the taskbar should be) - if it appears then it's in auto-hide mode. With it still on screen, right click it and select 'properties'. In the new window that pops up, ensure 'auto-hide the taskbar' is unticked.0 -
