I have a saving account in belgium with some money on it. That was done because my parents wanted to leave me something while they were still alive. So they opened that account for me and done the same for my brother.
Now the belgian bank decided to close my account and ask me to move that money to another bank.
My brother think it would be a hassle to open another account in belgium, and I am thinking of transfering the money in England in my santander bank account.
The problem is that it is a largish sum and I am wondering, if I do the transfer, will the bank decide that something is not right because of the amount involved and block my account? I don't want to end up not being able to get to any money because of it.

So, on that thread one says to contact the bank before the transfer to "possibly" avoid any problems, then another one says not to do so as they will contact you automatically after the transfer.
One point I have in common with the other thread is that I am frightened to have my account closed because of the higher transfer.
I knew that, eventually, I would have problems with it all, as I have never made any transactions with that account. Earlier this year they send me a letter where they were asking me to confirm that I was still around or they would have disposed of the money themselves. Now they are merging with another financial business and that's probably why they are closing down all dormant accounts.0
