I have a Toshiba TL86* Digital series Smart TV and need help buying some 3D glasses, this TV requires Active 3 D glasses, I've had a little look on Ebay and prices seem to vary a lot, Ideally I need 3 pairs but don't want to pay silly money as they won't be used that often but would like to take advantage of the 3 D feature for the right film or program, so any recommendations? I asked at PC World and was told only Toshiba glasses will work because there is no inter brand compatibility, yet there seems to be quite a few aftermarket glasses that claim compatibility on Ebay. Please note, the cheap £5 for 4 pairs passive glasses will not work with this TV.

Bump.
68 views and not one person can help? Surely someone on here has the knowledge to help me.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Active 3D glasses are a minefield. You DO have to have the make of the TV you have, (we have a Samsung so had to have Samsung), something to do with the frequency etc.
There are people out there that do glasses that are supposed to be inter-compatible, though I have never trusted this. I guess technology will catch up.
We got ours on special offer from Curry's. If you can wait till the year after you got your TV then prices will come down.
When you get them make sure they are compatible with your model of TV, not just Toshiba. Thinks move on very quick and the model before ours used infra-red, whilst ours uses blu tooth.
Sorry I can't give more specific advice. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Cheers for that, the glasses that work with my TV are £50 a pair in PC World, supposed compatible glasses for my TV TL86* series are £25 a pair. I'm begining to wish I'd gone for a Samsung TV as the glasses seem to be around £30 for 2 pairs in PC World.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0

We got two pairs when we bought the telly (Sharp), fortunately one pair was free but the price still raises the overall cost to heights you don't really want
but I guess if you can't have your cake and eat it.
I would like to get a couple more pairs but see they havnt come down in price so have been holding off till I can justify getting some more - I keep an eye out looking on Amazon. Otherwise I would simply do a search on the web and see what comes up for your specific model - I agree with Enterprise1701c, I would stick to the make of your TV, it might be false economy to go for a cheaper option.0 -
Different makes of glasses don't work with different tvs (active anyway)...but to be honest 3d isn't 'all that'. Do you have a 3d bluray player?0
