chrysler garage
there are abs traction and break lights showing on the dashboard of our pt cruiser...our local garage say there is nothing wrong that they can fix but if the lights still show when it comes to the mot it would probably fail..they suggested we take it to the local chrysler dealer/garage for it to be connected to their own diagnostic...we have booked it in but they say they will charge £75 just for the privelage of looking before any work to be done...is this the norm at dealer garages..cheers

We've a grand voyager and you can read some fault codes using an on-off sequence with the key.
Googled the same idea for the cruiser and came up with this.

Vauxhall charge £49 for a full diagnostic. My own mechanic charges £45. You do need to bear in mind that not all code readers (i.e. the cheapos) will read ABS or airbag fault codes & even then, not many under £100 will read maker-specific codes.
Chrysler might want £75 from you, but it doesn't mean you need them to fix the faults. Once you know what is wrong, any garage can do the repairs.Never Knowingly Understood.
