Just had a small bump.. Help!!!
The mrs was just reversing off her drive to go to work, didnt realise that there was a car parked in the road with the rear end over hanging her drive slightly. Just enough for her to scrape along it with the rear of her car.
Its left scuff marks on both cars however it should t-cut out of the mrs's, all been well. Now the other car is an old 1990's Toyota Celica. Which i think is going to need the bumper respraying.
Ive thought about going through the insurance however im not quite sure where i stand.. I know its the mrs's fault for reversing into his car but would he be liable for damages for overhanging the drive in the first place? or would it she get the hit and get the insurance vesion of lack of due care and attention, your at fault??
Regards
Matt

Its her fault so the insurance can't further penalise her. Reversing into the carriageway shouldn't be done.
If you're paying it yourself you should tell the insurance for information only.0 -
Your mrs was at fault and should pay for any damage made. How you pay is up to you but personally I would go cash and not via ins.0

It was on a small cul-de-sac that the accident happened. Someone's dug all the snow up the clear the top of cul-de-sac up and left a snow mountain on the path. He's drove up as far as he could without driving into it and must not of realised that he was over hanging her drive. She's thought she could get round it but went straight into it.0

Location matters not when you reverse into a stationary vehicle.0

Even if someone is completely obstructing your driveway (which is an offence) that doesn't give you the right to damage their property.
Personally I'd pay cash and keep insurance out of it, if the other driver seems amenable.0 -
Pay the other car driver direct and get them to sign a disclaimer to free yourself from any problems. I would under no circumstances tell big brother( your insurance) as it always gets logged somewhere and held against you. The damage may only be around £200 which is affordable compared to loss of ncb's0

It's sad that we pay our yearly premium to the insurance companies and when it comes to claiming we don't.
My car has been dented a few times and had some pr1ck keyed the side of the car yet I did not claim
I hate migraines.0
