santander123 - is it worth it for me?

Yes, you get 3% AER at Lloyds and BoS, and 5% AER at Nationwide. (post # 109 on the same subject, it's exhausting).0

Don't you have to have the 123 credit card to be able to get free withdrawals abroad?
If so although the card may be free of charge the first year, there is an annual charge for it.0 -
No, the 123 debit card gets you free withdrawals at Santander ATMs in Spain (including Canaries).
Dunno about the CC (I use Halifax Clarity elsewhere) - is that Spain-specific as well, or does it 'freebie' everywhere?0 -

Rather puzzled by this,
I had a Santander current account and have switched to the 123 one.
Told them I didn't want a 123 credit card so will just carry on using my Santander/MBNA one.
However never thought about the debit card. Do they issue a special 123 one as the one I have at the moment just states Santander Debit.
This query is only because we visit Spain frequently and usually just pre-load with FairFX. Being able to withdraw euros from Santander ATM's without charge would be another useful fall-back/emergency, even though the nearest branch would be 30km away.
I've trawled through Santander site but can only find that a debit withdrawal abroad is charged, and quite highly too.
I could ring them but am curious to hear about it here.0 -

The Spain thing is tucked away very near the bottom of this page http://www.santander.co.uk/csgs/Satellite?appID=abbey.internet.Abbeycom&c=Page&canal=CABBEYCOM&cid=1237873377908&empr=Abbeycom&leng=en_GB&pagename=Abbeycom%2FPage%2FWC_ACOM_TemplateA2 - whether 60km of petrol is worth the savings.... (the few places I go have Santander branches within 10 mins walk).0 -
Ignoring cashback, to cover the £24 annual charge:-
Keep in £800 if you are a non-Taxpayer (£800 @ 3% = £24)
Keep in £1,000 if you are a Basic Rate Taxpayer (£1,000 @ 3% - 20% Tax = £24)
Keep in approx £1,350 if you are a Higher Rate Taxpayer (£1,350 @ 3% - 40% Tax = £24.30)
Sorry,how do you get :Keep in £800 if you are a non-Taxpayer (£800 @ 3% = £24) ,Santander ?
thanks

£800 x 3% = £24
Or
£800 x 0.03 = £240 -
