Cheap Alternatives to Front Garden Wall and Renovation Tips needed Please!!

As the title says, I am looking for ways to tidy up our front garden bu we're on a (really) tight budget.
We bought DH Grandma's house a coulple of years and it is still firmly in the 1970's. We accrued some debt as per my signature through moving, replacing an old back boiler and doing 3 rooms already.
Circumstances have changed slightly which means we haven't got much left over to tackle the rest and want to concentrate on the debt for now.
Anyway, the front garden had a really crumbly wall which we have gotten rid of and there are still the foundations under where the brick was. I was thinking getting some rockery type large stones to make a border rather than a new wall.
Does anybody know of anywhere you can get these cheap, like recycled or anything?
If anyone has any 'on a budget' renovation tips, they would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

buy stuff on eBay and scour freecycle frequently
I just got my ex display never used bath with panel still in shrink wrap off eBay for £50 for both... would've been £120+ new. brand new designer style sink £15 eBay. would've been £120 new. new cooker hood and posh shower, better price for same quality too.
Got brand new toilet, solid wood victorian dining table and chairs off freecycle. Got rid of lot of stuff on freecycle too, which saved petrol on runs to the tip.
Look out for discount days at homebase and b&q. when they have offers on paint they generally work out the cheapest.0 -
Cheapest option is to dig out the wall foundations - it's unlikely to be very deep. You can always reuse the rubble to make a foundation for a shed/path/pizza oven.
You could then back fill the hole with soil scrounged from freecycle/eagle.
Plant small bushes - you can grow these on from cuttings taken from other houses. Total cost will be free.
I renovated a very ugly fence (think three bits of 2"x6" slung lengthways across the garden) by making my own slats out of 1"x3" - my 12ft fence was reborn for £35 + screws/white paint.Tim0
