at that age they tend to like to have just a few special mates over rather than their whole class, what about doing a limo ride for them and then a sleep over, perhaps about 5 friends to be invited

the other option is to take a few friends to the cinema (and take your owns goodies to eat and drink rather than spending a fortune of popcorn etc) then go onto a resturant/pizza place/noodle bar etc - this usually costs about £50 for the cinema and goodies then should be no more than £100 for the food, depending on where you go of course

How about a bear making party?

I am thinking of doing this for my dd's bday when she'll be 7 but I'm sure it would be suitable for a 9yr old too.

My 9 year old neice had a make over party with 5 friends, someone came from the local salon they didn't get completely made over, hair done and a little lipgloss, blusher etc, she and her friends loved it. Only thing would be careful of is make sure parents know what will be done incase of allergies etc.
One day I might be more organised...........

How about bowling? Most bowling places do parties, or you could just book a couple of lanes and then go for a meal afterwards.

If she wants the whole class etc, how about hiring a village hall and having a mini disco. Most dj's do things for this age and include traditional party games etc.
Or how about a themed party, we did an underwater fancy dress party one year, the girls dressed as mermaids mostly, boys sharks and pirates. The food was fish fingers etc and we organised some simple sea based games(eg instead of muscial chairs it was musical shells (just shell shaped piece of card on floor)

Have you thought about a roller skating party? Might work out cheaper than bowling as you dont have to pay per head, just for the venue. Skate hire is included in the price. At our local venue you have the option of either a hot dinner/ cold buffet style (price to be added per head) OR bring your own food (where you can keep the price down).
Also you can invite a fair amount of kids for a basic price. The only real expense is however you choose to feed them!

A sleepover party, if she hasn't had one already- you can give them facials with honey/bananas etc that they mix themselves,do their nails and hair yourself- more MSE- but best make it a Friday night when they are tired after being at school all week or you'll never get them to sleep!

And remember to ask about allergies/any bedwetters?

I agree with this, something all girls love. My daughter recently went to her friends party, 4 girls were invited and they went to the local college where trainee's did their hair and make-up...they loved it.
