Insurance Claim Rant

I have a critical & life mortgage insurance policy with Friends Life (I bought it when it was Axa). The policy has payment protection on it and there's a 26 week deferrment before payout. This period has come and gone and Friends Life are still asking my employer questions about my work and illness. I have provided them with copies of my sick notes which to me is all they should require (they have had a report back from my GP too). My employer filled in a form a couple of weeks ago with information about my working day etc but now they are asking them for my terms of reference and copies of my Occ Health reports.

This claim process is really starting to wind me up now. Why would they want all these reports and my TOR's? Are they going to say my employer hasn't done enough for me and they're not going to pay me out? I never realised that claiming would be such a hassle. I really don't understand why they need the information about my job or how many hours I sit in front of a computer screen etc.

Sorry about the rant but I get the feeling that they are doing everything to delay/stop paying out.

The reality is that many GPs don't do the best job in the world. You go to them saying your sick any many will happily sign you off without doing any real validation, particularly if you have a chronic condition that reoccurred in the past.

Many policies state that you must be unfit for work not simply that your GP says you're unfit and thus they will make enquiries to try and judge if you truly are unfit or not
