Where can I go next week?

I am looking to travel away next week, but not sure where to go.
I have a one year old, would like to fly, but not much further than 2 hours away. I am looking for specific recommendations of an area and hotel that people have been to and had a lovely time.
I am looking for the place to be of a good standard of cleanliness, modern (no dated or mouldy bathrooms please!!) and a place where you feel you have been treated well, but not looking for 5*. (I want to feel happy in casual clothes) A good 4* English Standard.
Perhaps in an ideal world the hotel room has a little area where I could put the cot and be able to sit with the tv or light on when my baby has gone to sleep.
Don't mind the destination, just somewhere by the sea or a lake that we can go for walks of a day, perhaps an interesting town or village that you can while away a day or two, going into nice shops and sipping nice drinks with a view.
Any ideas, and please only recommend if you have been and were very happy with it. After a recent disasterous weekend away I am looking to feel treated a little!

Centre parcs was great when the my offspring were little, plenty to do and lovely walks in the safe surrounding area. For overseas we used to go to France to Annency (I do hope thats how you spell it but it has been years since we went), right on the lake and such a beautiful town, but I am afraid I can't remember the name of the hotel. For more warmth there is always Spain or the Canaries. Last went to Lanzarotte and my youngest loved it (personally hated it, but there was plenty to do and see). There is a good website https://www.sunmaaster.co.uk who do last minute cancellations and seem really cheap but I havent tried them out yet myself so can't say for sure. Good luck, hope your little one enjoys it and you too.Member since Sept 2003, been comping seriously since 2004 and so far have won.........
A book (which never arrived) a Rugby ball (mother of three girls) and a cheque for £50. In 2009 my (one and only) win An Avatar goody bag (thanks to weeowen67) since then nothing. Come on Comping Fairy surely I deserve a little luck?0 -
This time of year you have not got many option with a 2 hour flight Majorca is 2 hours but I would go for southern Italy.
A nice 3-4* star hotel thsi time of year shouldnt cost an arm and leg and if you get a balcony what better way to enjoy a nice Chanti (fffff ..sorry).
If it was slightly later I couldnt reccomend the Boathouse hotel in Kamari (santorini) enough, friendly people great food wonderfull setting but flights dont start till around 3rd May and not too hot for little MSE's
Back to Italy if you like the idea of that Thomsons have some really good deals on, starting at £219 for 4T know when you get there....£239 for a price breaker (choice of 3 hotels you could be in) or £259 for named 4T Parco Del Sol in Sorrento then on to 5T Grand Hotel Capodimonte £489. But I am with you 4T is more than enough and they are all Half Board and all going on the 22nd from Gatwick
We have been to Sorrento but not these hotels but Thomsons 4T for £259 named you can not go wrong because Italy's 4 star is a proper 4 starIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -

Thanks for the info, I have just looked on Trip Advisor and notice it is by the Alps, will that not be a bit cold for this time of year, what time of year did you go?0 -
have a look at
http://www.solmelia.com/sol/home/jsp/CHome.jsp
The Melia and Tryp brands have some nice 4/5 star hotels on mainland Spain, and Balearics.
Typical price
Melia Benidorm (a lovely hotel BTW)
DBL room for 1,half board=£47 per night
Search for flights to Alicante @
https://www.flightline.co.uk
https://www.skydeals.co.uk
Transfers from airport to hotel around £45 EW with
https://www.shuttledirect.com0 -
When other Moneysavers suggest a place, I've found https://www.lunnpoly.com an easy site to navigate, when looking for 'last minute' deals. (Says he with his Thomas Cook credit card, to avoid booking fees - Thomas Cook offer price match/beat facility)
Also, if you're near us https://www.londonluton.co.uk has a reasonably easy to use search option, too.
Have a nice break.

we have spent many lovely days in palma and last year decided to tag 4 days in palma onto our villa holiday.....we stayed at ac ciutat de palma which is 2mins from sea.........10 mins to a playground and 15mins to central palma shops.
the hotel was quite swish(for us), trendy decor........great breakfasts..........fashionable clientele(photo shoot going on outside) and free mini-bar which my children thought was fab(unlimited fizz and beer(for us))
palma is great.....for wandering.............for coffee shops and shopping and generally buzzy! it`s a city where people live and consequently you get a great vibe ........wonderful weather too this time of year.
go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Sorry not to have replied earlier but have been busy, probably by the time you get this you may well have been and come back again and if so I hope you found somewhere that met all your needs.
We actually used to live in Annecy (when I was 12- so really really long time ago) but before we moved there we stayed in a hotel on the left hand side of the lake as you look at the Lake from the town (the elderly insane-my ma and pa-couldnt remember the name of the hotel either but then they can hardly remember my name half the time). So back to the original question of what time of year, well we moved there in Feb and I always seem to remember the weather being lovely. The Lake is not glacier fed so the water was warm and I last went there with my husband MK11 (more user friendly than the original version), when the girls were about 12 and we went in May and September and the weather was good both times. But I suppose its like anywhere luck of the draw.
Funnily enough I was thinking about this today as I drove my youngest to school and was reminded of an Italian holiday when I hardly saw the children as they were constantly being carted off by locals as the Italians are great children lovers. Meals were leisurely as the patron would usually cart the little ones off to play with his/her children and in one place they insisted on passing the baby round as she was fractious and I couldnt enjoy my meal (husband MK11 might have been an imporoved version but still lacked some of the more updated features one would like in a later model) and the Chefs wife having got her off to sleep even insisted on walking us back to the hotel so as not to wake her when transferring her to the pushchair, that was in Florence by the way (and again cant remember the hotels name or the restaurants).
Any way Best of luckMember since Sept 2003, been comping seriously since 2004 and so far have won.........
