HP 510 laptop query

Have been looking at these as son needs a laptop for university.

It looks like it meets all the criteria, trouble is only has 512 MB RAM and would really like it upgraded to 1 GB. It doesn't seem to be offered as an option on any of the sites I have looked on. Is it difficult/expensive to get this done?

It's very simple. Identify the right type of Ram - and if your not sure https://www.crucial.com/uk have a tool to help. Then you buy it, open the cover on the bottom and put in the new memory module. If it has two memory slots you can just get 512mb, otherwise you'll have get 1gb and replace the existing memory. Fitting is very easy.

Do check beforehand as to whether fitting extra RAM yourself will make your warranty null and void.

Depending on how much you are paying for it, it might be cheaper to buy a 1GB machine in the first place.
