LLoyds TSB

Im in the process of making a claim against Lloyds TSB for PPi on both credit card & loan. I know with the loan I went into a branch to apply but have no recollection of how I applied for the credit card.

Today I received a call from Lloyds, asking losts of questions about why I was claiming and on what grounds (I had major back surgery in 1996 and have had problems with it ever since and still see a doctor regularly about it.. so I believe the ppi would have been next to useless had I ever tried to make a claim. I have now cancelled the ppi on the card.) Lloyds are saying that it was a postal application and I ticked the box,I have no recollection of completeing a postal application (I think i may have applied for it in branch at the time of a loan application).

They have not yet come to a decision, and the 8 week since my claim went in is not up for another 3 weeks. My question is quite simply do you think my claim is likely to be sucessful or declined and if declined should I persue it with FOS or not bother?

If you have no memory of how you took out the card you have no way to contest what the bank are saying about your application being postal. Postal applications don't involve advice from bank staff and so can only be classed as mis-bought rather than mis-sold.
You may get lucky with a goodwill payment, but from what you say it sounds like a full investigation is taking place.

Thankyou, I thought that may be the case.

I have asked LTSB to send me a copy of the form as I think (I use that term very loosely) that this was completed in branch when I was applying for a loan and Im not convinced i actually did anything other than sign it .. I may be completely wrong though
  • If all else fails try a hypnotist to take you back to that time.

Can't you think back or try and find out from the bank if they had any other correspondence to back up your claim?
