GlowWorm 30CXi F12 error
Hi, I have a 6 year old Glow Worm 30Cxi Boiler. Has been great over the last few years, but yesterday I noticed the heating came on even though the thermostat was at lowest setting, and the User Interface for the heating was set to off, not on timer. I powered off the boiler and back on and got an F12 error. Today the boiler does not turn on at all. I have asked BG to visit, using the one off payment £79 for first 30 mins, then £199 upto an hour, etc. Does any one know if I would be better off using Glow Worm instead?

They are probably guaranteed to have the pcb on the van and will also address any secondary problems if they see them but will e alot more expensive than bg.0

The F12 error is listed on the glowworm site as Connection fault between main pcb and display pcb.0

Yes i found that may be the issue, i might have a look a see what i can see later when i get home. But I'm no expert!0

I bet you £50 that BG won't fix it in less than 31 minutes...No free lunch, and no free laptop0

+1 on above & i would put money on it taking more than an hr you get charged for them sitting at your table filling out the paperwork not just the time fixing the boilerI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
You know the engineers get exactly the same time credit for jobs that take 30 mins or less as ones that take 31 to 120?. It will cost 199 inc vat, what is wrong with that?, it's a good sight cheaper than the manufacturer and probably lots of indies aswell.0

Well Its now fixed. GlowWorm engineer attended in the end. I cancelled BG in the end. The PCB had blown, the valve which manages the Heating or hot water demand was replaced, and also the main door seal was replaced too. Total cost £238, which I don't think is too bad. Engineer was done in two hours. If BG had attended would have cost me £399. All credit to the GW engineer who was A1. What worries me is BG serviced the boiler this time last year and the main door seal should have been replaced back then, so I've been informed.0

You've been informed wrong to be fair, vaillant and glow-worm use exactly the same burner door seals. Vaillant (or representatives) replaced them as a free safety update, glow-worm advised replacement only required when worn / damaged.
Can't see why that would be more than a 199 job through bg although if it really did need a diverter valve kit I would probably have had to come back the next day to complete.0 -
The engineer did say it needed a Diverter valve kit, as the hot water for the taps and the radiators wasn't working properly.0

not correct, Vaillant door seals are recommended to be changed every five yrs or when the burner door is removed to clean the hex, Glowworm recommends changing them every 3 yrsI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
