Washing powder not dissolving in washing machine - any idea why?

had the same problem on previous machine and it was gunk from the drawer (conditioner usually) blocking up the piping that goes from drawer to machine. Every so often now I twist corner of a tea towel and shove that down as far as I can, wiping round the pipe. Also do the hot wash thing once every couple of months.

Check that the little holes the water comes out of in the drawer aren't clogged up though. Use a pipecleaner if you've got them (sold anywhere that sells fags and pipe tobacco).

My vote for this one. Depends on the water type, but mine tend to build up slightly with gunk and limescale.

I just remove the tray (sharp pull) and then give mine a quick rub over with a scrubbing brush to break off the gunk, then run it empty on the hottest cycle to clear it all through. I do it this way so as not to push any of the gunk further into the pipes.

What temp program are you using when this problem happens?

Doesn't the water heat in the drum AFTER it's been through the dispenser trays ?

Instead of buying liquid, after cleaning the pipes/tray etc and a hot wash, just use the tablets you have but break them up yourself as you put them in the tray.

I encountered this problem a year or so ago, after using the tabs OK for ages with no probs. This happened whether it was using hot or cold fill.

I cleaned out the holes leading down into the drawer, but with little or no improvement.

I went back to powder, it's cheaper and you can vary the amount (eg if there's nor much soiling of the clothes) and save even more.

Every time I use liquid, after a few weeks a horrible smell comes from my machine, like wet clothes which have been left in machine for about a week.
    Ant ideas?

Its a good idea to run the machine, empty, on the hottest cycle, one every so often, its surprising how much gunk builds up in the pipes over the years, which, in some cases can lead to overflows.
Yes, I agree with this and go one further...

Run empty on the hottest wash (95°C) with 500gms of washing soda crystals in the drum.

Will remove even the most stubborn gunk.
